About This Whisky
The 2018 release of Springbank 21 Year Old, matured mainly in rum casks with the rest in bourbon wood, and bottled at 46% ABV.
The 21 Year Old has been a regular but small part of the Springbank range, and the cask mix changes with each outturn.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Heather and cut grass, then honey and pear skin, with digestive biscuit behind.
- Palate: Gentle, with butterscotch, sugar cane and molasses, apricot and a pinch of paprika.
- Finish: Soft smoke, toffee apple and oat biscuit, then peppercorn and almond.
Serving & Food
Serve it neat, just below room temperature; a drop of water is plenty. Grilled pineapple or Portuguese egg tarts suit the rum-cask sweetness.

About the Distillery
Springbank was licensed in Campbeltown in 1828 and has belonged to the Mitchell family since 1837. It malts all its barley on its own floors, turning it by hand, which very few distilleries still do.
