From the Producer

Alongside its core range, Springbank has long filled and sold individual casks, and single-cask bottlings labelled for particular buyers, importers or markets are a recognised part of the distillery's output. The whisky itself is made by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. in Campbeltown, licence holders since 1828, from barley floor-malted on site, distilled two and a half times, matured in the distillery's own seaside warehouses and bottled in its own bottling hall. Re-charred casks, where the inside of a used cask is scraped and burned again to reactivate the wood, are one of the cask treatments the distillery works with. This bottle is a single re-charred cask from the 1997 vintage, bottled at 19 years old.
