About the Distillery

Owning a cask at Springbank meant owning a numbered cask of new spirit that never left Campbeltown. It sat in bond in the distillery's warehouses, the owner paid no duty until it was bottled, and when the time came the distillery drew it off, bottled it on site and printed whatever label the owner asked for. Buyers included individuals, clubs and groups of friends, and plenty of casks were bought with a family event in mind: a birth, a wedding, an anniversary. A label like this one is a small record of that tradition, with the whisky made by the same floor-malting, two-and-a-half-times distillation and on-site bottling as the distillery's own releases.
