Springbank is one of the last Scotch distilleries to complete every stage of production in one place. J. & A. Mitchell & Co., licence holders in Campbeltown since 1828, floor-malt their own barley, distil Springbank two and a half times, fill and store the casks in warehouses on site, and bottle by hand in their own bottling hall. The same family firm owns Wm Cadenhead, the independent bottler trading since 1842, and reopened the neighbouring Glengyle distillery in 2004. The 18 Year sits above the 15 Year in the range, drawn from a mix of sherry and bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration or added colour. It is released in small annual batches; this is the 2022 release.
