Springbank 18 Year Old 2021 Release is a Campbeltown single malt that shows the distillery's oily texture, coastal savour and mature cask influence in an age-stated format prized by Springbank followers.
From the Producer
Springbank's supply of mature stock is limited by its own history. The Campbeltown distillery, licensed to J. & A. Mitchell & Co. since 1828, stopped distilling in 1979 during the industry-wide contraction and did not resume full production until 1987, leaving a gap in the maturing inventory that still shapes how the older age statements are released. Everything is made in-house: floor maltings, two and a half distillations, on-site warehouses and an on-site bottling hall, with no chill-filtration and no added colour. The 18 Year is issued in limited annual batches rather than as continuously available stock, matured in a mix of sherry and bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV. This is the 2021 release.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried fruit, orchard fruit, nuts, leather and a light coastal edge.
- Palate: Creamy and oily, showing apple, cinnamon, raisin, cooked fruit and gentle smoke.
- Finish: Persistent and savoury-sweet, with spice, malt and maritime nuance.
Best For
Campbeltown fans, Springbank collectors and drinkers who want an older sherry-leaning house style.
