Springbank 10 Year Local Barley 2020 is a Campbeltown single malt made from locally grown barley and bottled at high strength. Specialist retail references list the 2020 release at 55.6% ABV in 700mL, giving the bottle strong appeal for Springbank followers who specifically collect the distillery's Local Barley series.
From the Producer
Springbank has been in the Mitchell family since 1828 and is the only Scottish distillery that carries out every step on one site - floor malting, distilling, maturing and bottling, all in Campbeltown. Local Barley takes that further: the barley is grown on farms within reach of the distillery and kept traceable to a named farm and harvest, so each annual release reflects one crop rather than a blend of supply. These are bottled at cask strength without chill filtration or colouring.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Cereal, citrus peel, coastal air, vanilla, dried fruit and light smoke.
- Palate: Weighty and oily, with malted barley, sherry richness, sea-salt minerality, spice and cask-strength warmth.
- Finish: Long and earthy, with malt, salt, spice and gentle smoke.
Best For
Springbank collectors, Local Barley verticals and Campbeltown whisky drinkers who want a younger release with full strength and distillery character.
