Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir 2006 750mL is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Marcassin Estate Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, bottled at 750mL from the 2006 California vintage. It is from the early run of Marcassin estate releases, before the project shifted to estate-only fruit in 2010.
About This Wine
Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir 2006 is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast estate, drawn from the original ten-acre block planted in 1991 and 1992. The 2006 California vintage was cool and produced restrained, structured Pinot Noir with bright acidity. The wine is fermented with native yeast and aged in French oak barrels, made in the minimal-intervention style that defines the estate.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, forest floor and a cool-climate Sonoma Coast lift.
- Palate: Silky and layered, with red fruit, fine-grained tannin, savoury herb and a structured mid-palate.
- Finish: Sustained, with cherry, mineral and a long, cool-vintage close.
Serving & Food
Serve slightly below room temperature, around 14 to 16 degrees, in a Burgundy glass; a long, slow-cooked duck breast or wild mushroom risotto suits the savoury, cool-climate register.
How to Enjoy
Open for a Sonoma Coast Pinot vertical where the 2006 estate wine can be compared with later estate vintages.

About the Winery
Marcassin is a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay house run by winemaker Helen Turley and viticulturist John Wetlaufer, founded in 1991 with the Gauer Vineyard Upper Barn Chardonnay as its debut release. The twenty-acre Marcassin Estate Vineyard sits near Fort Ross at around 1,200 feet altitude on rocky, volcanic soils, planted in equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Turley brought consulting experience from Peter Michael, Colgin, Bryant Family and Pahlmeyer before founding the project, with wines initially made at the Martinelli Winery in Russian River Valley before the purpose-built Windsor facility opened in 2011.
