Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug and remains one of the most respected houses in Champagne. Every Krug Champagne is a vintage blend, blended from wines of multiple plots and multiple reserve vintages and aged in oak cellars for at least five years before release. Krug Vintage — labelled by year — is made only when the cellar master judges the wines of that single year worthy of standing on their own. Krug 2004 follows the house's vintage discipline: bottled as a pure expression of one year's harvest, drawn from across Krug's extensive plot holdings in Champagne.
