Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a Pauillac estate classified as a Cinquième Cru (Fifth Growth) in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, with a vineyard of around 36 hectares planted to roughly 75 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 percent Merlot and 5 percent Cabernet Franc on deep gravel over a limestone base. The grand vin is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged in oak barrels for around 18 months, of which half are new each vintage. The estate's second wine is Lacoste-Borie.

Grand-Puy-Lacoste's vineyard sits on the Grand Puy gravel rise, the same hill that hosts its neighbour Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse, both estates taking their second names from the original single property that was split in 1750. The Borie family stewards the property across multiple generations, with current leadership focused on canopy management and replanting selected parcels for finer Cabernet expression. The same long-tenured cooperage supplies the barrels for aging the Grand-Puy-Lacoste grand vin.
