Filled in 1993 and bottled 27 years later, this puncheon gave 694 bottles at 51.6% ABV. The distillery lists its colour as dark mahogany, which fits the dense PX character. It was bottled without chill-filtration or added colour and allocated to Asia Pacific, Canada, India, the Middle East and Africa.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Plum and blackberry liqueur, chocolate hazelnut praline and freshly baked gingerbread.
- Palate: Spiced fruitcake and treacle with angelica, building to demerara sugar and star anise.
- Finish: Espresso cream holds on for some time.
Serving & Food
A good after-dinner whisky. Pour it into a Glencairn and sip it neat first, then with a little still water. Serve with a strong black coffee; the espresso note in the finish picks it up.
How to Enjoy
A dessert in a glass for lovers of rich PX-matured malt, or a gift for a 1993 anniversary.

About the Distillery
This cask was filled three years before GlenDronach fell silent. The distillery was mothballed in 1996 and did not produce again until 2002, so stock from the early 1990s had years to mature while nothing new was being made.
Ownership changed twice after the restart. The BenRiach Distillery Company bought GlenDronach in 2008 and brought back its single cask releases, and Brown-Forman acquired the business in 2016, appointing Dr Rachel Barrie as master blender.
