George T. Stagg is the uncut, unfiltered bourbon at the head of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection, released each autumn since 2000 from the distillery on the Kentucky River at Frankfort. The label honours George T. Stagg, the nineteenth-century whiskey salesman and businessman whose name the distillery itself carried for much of the twentieth century before Sazerac renamed it Buffalo Trace in 1999. Each year's bottling is drawn from a small group of hand-selected barrels laid down together, with proof, age and character shifting according to where in the warehouse those barrels sat. Nothing is added and nothing is taken away, so the strength printed on the label is simply what came out of the wood. The 2013 release was bottled at 128.2 US proof, or 64.1% ABV, in 750mL.
