About This Wine
Bonnes-Mares is Christophe Roumier's largest Grand Cru holding and a wine his followers seek out.
Bonnes-Mares sits at the northern end of Chambolle, running into Morey-Saint-Denis next to Clos de Tart.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Black cherry, raspberry, violet and peony, with earth and a gamey edge developing.
- Palate: Dense and layered, dark fruit over chalky minerality and firm, fine-grained tannin.
- Finish: Very long, with spice, iron and savoury depth.
Serving & Food
Decant for one to two hours and serve at 16 to 17°C, with roast grouse or pigeon, braised beef cheek with red wine, or aged Comté.
Good to Know
Is 2005 a good year? One of the strongest of the decade in the Côte de Nuits.
Which soils? About 1.4 ha split between white Terres Blanches and red Terres Rouges.

About the Domaine
Georges Roumier began working his wife Geneviève Quanquin's family vines in Chambolle-Musigny in 1924 and started domaine bottling in 1945. His grandson Christophe has run the family domaine since 1990.
