The Langwerth von Simmern family has owned vineyards in the Rheingau since the early sixteenth century, working from a base at Eltville and holding parcels across Erbach, Hattenheim and Rauenthal. Their share of the Erbacher Marcobrunn sits on the narrow strip of deep, warm soil beside the Rhine that made the site famous long before modern classification, and it was traditionally vinified cask by cask, each lot bottled under its own number rather than blended into a single estate wine.
