Four Roses Distillery, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, runs an unusually broad production programme built on two mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains that yield ten distinct bourbon recipes. Single Barrel Limited Edition releases are drawn from a single cask selected by the distillery's master distiller and bottled uncut and unfiltered, with production figures that typically run to a few thousand bottles or fewer per year. The 2013 release was associated with selections made during the Jim Rutledge era, when Rutledge served as master distiller from 1995 until his retirement in 2015.
