Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Échezeaux 2013 is a grand cru Pinot Noir from the Flagey-Échezeaux appellation on the southern Côte de Nuits. The 2013 vintage on the Côte de Nuits was a cool, classically structured year that produced fragrant, ageworthy reds across the village.
About This Wine
Échezeaux spans a wide area of the Flagey-Échezeaux slope, with parcels on a mix of stony, marl-rich and sandy soils that produce fragrant, generous grand cru reds. The 2013 Côte de Nuits vintage was a cool, structured year, producing wines of bright red cherry, fine-grained tannin and the kind of perfume the domaine's wines are known for. Fruit was hand-harvested, sorted and fermented in the Rouget cellar in Flagey-Échezeaux and aged in French oak before bottling.

About the Domaine
Domaine Emmanuel Rouget carries the residual stake of the Henri Jayer winemaking lineage. Emmanuel, a trained tractor engineer who joined his uncle in 1976, set up his own cellar in Flagey-Échezeaux in 1985; today the estate is run by his sons Nicolas (vineyards) and Guillaume (cellar). The domaine farms Échezeaux Grand Cru, Cros Parantoux, Beaumonts, Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Lavières and a spread of village parcels, and also vinifies the Domaine Georges Jayer label in the same cellar.
