About This Wine
Richebourg sits on the Vosne-Romanée slope and produces Pinot Noir of opulence and structure. The 2001 red Burgundy vintage is recognised as a classically structured, age-worthy year producing balanced Pinot Noir with bright acidity, the kind of vintage that has aged on its balance. This bottle is sold with a slightly scuffed label; fill and cork condition are consistent with cellared stock of this age.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dark cherry, raspberry, plum and a quiet earthy lift with hints of sous-bois.
- Palate: Layered, broad Pinot Noir with fine-grained tannin, dense red and dark fruit and the deep, opulent mid-palate Richebourg is known for.
- Finish: Long, perfumed and gently savoury, with the breadth and depth of mature Richebourg.
Serving & Food
Decant carefully off any sediment and serve at 16 to 17°C in a Burgundy red glass. Pairs naturally with duck, game or aged Comté.
How to Enjoy
Give the bottle time in glass or decanter and serve with a simply roasted bird or game; a soft aged cheese is a clean match for the second glass.

About the Domaine
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti farms nine Grand Cru sites across the Côte de Nuits, including the 3.51-hectare Richebourg parcel that produces around 12,000 bottles a year. Total estate production is around 6,000 to 8,000 cases a year and distribution routes through a small global merchant network that has changed little over decades. The wines are bottled at the domaine's historic cellars in Vosne-Romanée after around 18 to 20 months in French oak, the majority new for each Grand Cru.
