Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Le Montrachet 2006, 750mL. A Grand Cru white Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, drawn from the domaine's 0.68-hectare holding in Le Montrachet at the boundary of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The 2006 white Burgundy vintage is recognised for tense, bright whites with pronounced acidity.

About This Wine

Le Montrachet sits at the boundary of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet and produces Chardonnay of extraordinary depth and longevity. The 2006 white Burgundy vintage is recognised for tense, bright whites with pronounced acidity that age on their freshness. As a DRC bottling, the Chardonnay carries the domaine's signature precision and the depth that comes from old vines on the Montrachet hill.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Citrus pith, white peach, almond cream and a quiet mineral lift.
  • Palate: Tightly woven Chardonnay with orchard fruit, brisk acidity and the deep, layered mid-palate Montrachet is known for.
  • Finish: Sustained and mineral, with persistent white-fruit echoes at the end.

Serving & Food

Serve cool at 12 to 13°C in a standard Burgundy white glass; decanting is rarely worth the effort on whites. Pairs naturally with roast turbot, scallop carpaccio or aged Comté.

How to Enjoy

Pour into a generous white-wine glass and let the wine open for ten minutes; a simply prepared fish or poultry is more than enough.

About the Domaine

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's Le Montrachet is the domaine's sole still-white Grand Cru, produced from a 0.68-hectare parcel at the heart of the Montrachet hill. The parcel was added to the portfolio in the late 19th century, the same period that consolidated Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant under Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet's estate. Annual production is around 3,000 bottles a year, sold in tiny distribution through the domaine's merchant network.
