Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729 and is the oldest established Champagne house, with cellars cut into the chalk of Reims dating from Roman times. Dom Ruinart is the house's prestige cuvée, named in honour of Dom Thierry Ruinart, the brother of founder Nicolas Ruinart, and is produced mainly from Chardonnay grown on the Côte des Blancs with Pinot Noir from the northern Montagne de Reims. The 2002 vintage is widely regarded as a classically structured, cool year, producing a tightly knit rosé with notable ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Appearance — pale salmon with a fine, persistent mousse.
Nose — wild strawberry, red currant, white peach, brioche and chalky mineral lift.
Palate — refined and vinous, with red berry fruit, citrus tension, fine autolytic depth and a taut Chardonnay backbone.
Finish — long, poised and savoury, with chalky mineral grip and a refined close.
