Dom Pérignon 2008 in magnum presents one of the house's most acclaimed modern vintages in large format, with merchant references highlighting its tension, chalky precision and long ageing potential.
From the Producer
Dom Pérignon is the vintage prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, part of LVMH's Wines and Spirits division, based in Épernay, France. The first Dom Pérignon vintage was 1921, with the 1921 released for sale in 1936, and the brand has been produced separately from the Moët & Chandon vintage line since the 1947 vintage. The 2008 vintage was the first declared Dom Pérignon vintage to be released out of sequence, coming after the 2009 rather than before it. Magnum (1.5 L) bottlings of prestige Champagne are generally held by the trade to age more slowly than standard 750 mL bottles, owing to the lower ratio of oxygen exposure to volume. Like all Dom Pérignon releases, the 2008 is a single-vintage assemblage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
