Dom Pérignon is the vintage-only prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, itself part of LVMH's Wines and Spirits division, headquartered in Épernay, Champagne. The brand takes its name from the 17th-century Benedictine cellarer of the abbey of Hautvillers, and the first commercial Dom Pérignon vintage was the 1921, with the 1921 released to the public in 1936. From the 1947 vintage onward, Dom Pérignon has been produced separately from the start of the winemaking process rather than being selected later from Moët & Chandon's vintage stock. The 1995 vintage is an officially declared and released Dom Pérignon year, sitting in the long run of declared vintages that began with 1921 and continues today. The standard market release of a Dom Pérignon vintage follows roughly eight to ten years on the lees before disgorgement. This bottle is the Methuselah format, an eight-bottle, 6-litre size used principally for ceremonial service and large-format cellaring.
