Invergordon is a grain whisky distillery on the Cromarty Firth at Invergordon in Easter Ross, in the Scottish Highlands. It was established in 1959 and started production in 1961, using three Coffey (continuous column) stills, and it remains one of the larger Scottish grain plants, with a stated annual capacity of about 36 million litres of pure alcohol. The site draws its process water from Loch Glass and is operated by Whyte & Mackay, which has been owned since 2014 by Alliance Global of the Philippines. Single grain whisky distilled at Invergordon is made chiefly from wheat or maize with a small share of malted barley, and, unlike most single malt, it is almost always aged in cask and bottled by independent bottlers rather than the distillery itself. This particular release is an independent single-cask bottling of 1987-vintage Invergordon grain whisky, drawn from cask 88721 and bottled by the Distinctive Spirits Company.
