The estate is recognised for its Saint-Estèphe terroir of deep, well-drained gravel over clay, and its wines are typically Cabernet Sauvignon-led blends, with significant Merlot and small shares of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The château is also known for its distinctive pagoda-style fermentation chai, built by owner Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel in the 19th century.
