Chichibu distillery sits in the mountain town of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, and was founded by Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the master distiller of the now-closed Hanyu distillery. Distilling began in 2008, making this bottling one of the distillery's earliest cask releases. The Malt Dream Cask series pairs Chichibu single-cask whisky with partner bars around the world; the Mood'y Blue editions are the allocations for that named establishment.
