About This Whisky
Cask #3874 was filled in 2014 and bottled in 2021 at around seven years old. Refill bourbon barrels are a workhorse cask at Chichibu: they add vanilla and gentle spice while leaving room for the spirit's fruit. La Maison du Whisky, the Paris-based specialist, arrived in Singapore in 2006, and this cask marked its 15th year there. It opened the Flowers series of Chichibu single casks for the Singapore team.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Pear, white peach and lemon, with vanilla, honeyed malt and clean oak.
- Palate: Lively and focused, with citrus, cereal sweetness and ginger, then creamy vanilla.
- Finish: Long, with pepper, light oak and lingering malt.

About the Distillery
Ichiro Akuto founded Chichibu in 2008. The distillery sits in the hills of Saitama, where hot summers and cold winters push spirit into oak quickly. Ex-bourbon barrels, many of them refills, are the backbone of the warehouse and suit the distillery's fruity new make. Casks are bottled one at a time at natural strength for partners across Asia and Europe, and a second, larger Chichibu distillery opened nearby in 2019.
