Maison M. Chapoutier, headquartered at Tain-l'Hermitage, is one of the great historic names of the northern Rhône valley and the largest landowner on the Hermitage hill. Le Pavillon is Chapoutier's flagship red Hermitage cuvée, drawn from old Syrah vines on the Bessards lieu-dit at the eastern end of the hill where the granite bedrock is most exposed. Magnums of Le Pavillon are produced in very small quantities and are typically shipped in their original wooden case, branded with the château's vintage and single-vineyard marks.
