About This Whisky
Cardhu 14 Year Old came out in Diageo's 2021 Special Releases under the title "The Scarlet Blossoms of Black Rock".
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Green apple, pear, white grape and heather honey, with orange zest and a perfumed violet lift.
- Palate: Creamy and fairly light for its strength, with candied apple, poached pear, red berries, toffee and clove.
- Finish: Medium-long, with stone fruit, toffee and a pinch of white pepper.
Serving & Food
Try it neat, then with a few drops of water, which brings out more red fruit. Duck breast with cherries or a berry pavlova both work.

Which casks were used? Mostly refill American oak, then a finish in red wine casks.
How strong is it? Cask strength at 55.5%, without chill filtration.

John Cumming, a former smuggler, and his wife Helen founded Cardhu in 1824. Elizabeth Cumming sold it to John Walker & Sons in 1893, and Diageo owns it today, with much of its malt going into Johnnie Walker.
