Bowmore is the oldest licensed distillery on Islay, with records of distillation dating back to 1779 and continuous licensed production from 1816 onwards. The distillery sits on the shores of Loch Indaal in the centre of Islay and is known for its signature style that balances maritime peat with tropical-fruit maturation in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks.
