Brand: Bond
Category: US Red

Bond St. Eden 2005 is a single-vineyard Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from BOND St. Eden cru in Oakville, bottled in magnum format. It is part of BOND portfolio of site-designated Cabernet bottlings.

About This Wine

St. Eden is an 11-acre north-facing knoll on the eastern side of the Napa Valley near the Oakville AVA, just north of Screaming Eagle. The site is the lowest-lying of the BOND crus at 145 to 188 feet and sits on iron-rich red volcanic soils. Its Cabernet Sauvignon runs the more generous, richly textured register within the BOND portfolio. The 2005 is offered here in magnum format suited to extended cellaring.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Dark berry, plum, sweet cedar and warm earth from the St. Eden site.
  • Palate: Rich and dense, with old-vine concentration and a layered mid-palate.
  • Finish: Long and savoury, with cocoa, graphite and toasted oak.

Serving & Food

Decant for an hour and serve at 16 to 18 degrees in a generous Bordeaux glass. Slow-braised short ribs suit the wine generous, structured profile.

How to Enjoy

Open for a serious table where a magnum of richly textured Oakville Cabernet can lead the main course.

About the Winery

BOND St. Eden is an 11-acre north-facing knoll on the eastern side of the Napa Valley near Oakville, planted on iron-rich red volcanic soils. It joined the BOND programme in 2001 and takes a name that appeared on 19th-century maps of the area. St. Eden is the lowest-lying of the BOND crus at 145 to 188 feet and gives the portfolio its generous, richly textured counterpoint to the mountain sites.
