Blanton's is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and is credited as the first modern single-barrel bourbon, launched in 1984 and named after Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who ran the distillery from 1921 to 1953. Each bottle is drawn from a single barrel, and the brand's stopper — a horse and jockey in mid-stride — has become a collectors' signature. Gold Edition is bottled at 103 proof for a fuller, more structured profile than the original release.
