Château Ausone is one of Bordeaux's smallest and most exacting Right Bank estates: around 7 hectares of steep limestone terraces above Saint-Émilion, planted roughly equally to Cabernet Franc and Merlot, aged in cellars cut into the cliff beneath the town. Annual output of the grand vin and its second wine, Chapelle d'Ausone, averages only about 2,000 cases, which keeps the property among the rarest Premier Grand Cru Classé names to source in original case format.
