From the Producer

Château Angélus takes its name from the Angelus bells of the nearby chapel of Saint-Émilion, and the estate has been run by the de Boüard de Laforest family for several generations. It was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" status in the 2012 revision of the Saint-Émilion classification, joining Château Cheval Blanc and Château Ausone at the top tier. Angélus's wines are classically Right Bank: Merlot-dominant, with significant Cabernet Franc, grown on the limestone and clay slopes around Saint-Émilion.

The 2013 vintage in Bordeaux is widely noted as a cooler year with a delayed harvest, producing wines of fresh acidity and structured tannin rather than the generous concentration of 2009, 2010 or 2015. Right Bank Merlot-Cabernet Franc blends in 2013 lean toward classical proportion and cellar longevity.
