Furstlich Castellsches Domanenamt Casteller Kugelspiel Rieslaner TBA 1990 375mL is a 1990 Trockenbeerenauslese from Fürstlich Castell’s Casteller Kugelspiel vineyard in Franken — a rare German sweet wine made from the Rieslaner grape.
From the Producer
Fürstlich Castell’sches Domänenamt is the wine estate of the princely House of Castell in Franken, with a viticultural history going back to the 13th century. The Casteller Kugelspiel vineyard is one of the estate’s flagship sites, and the 1990 Trockenbeerenauslese was produced from Rieslaner — a Franken specialty capable of producing intensely concentrated botrytised dessert wines. Rieslaner, related to Silvaner, is rarely planted outside Franken and is prized for its firm acidity and depth of botrytis fruit.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Candied citrus, apricot, honey and dried tropical fruit.
- Palate: Lusciously sweet, with rich botrytis fruit, vibrant acidity and concentrated texture.
