About This Whisky
The whisky is aged for at least 18 years, mainly in Spanish oak sherry casks, with American oak and mizunara in support. The sherry gives dried fruit and chocolate, the mizunara adds sandalwood and incense, and the American oak rounds it out. It took a trophy at the International Spirits Challenge in 2012 and a double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Raisin and apricot, with café au lait and sandalwood.
- Palate: Blackberry, strawberry jam, dates and dark chocolate.
- Finish: Long and smooth, with dried fruit and warm spice.

Suntory has been named Distiller of the Year four times at the International Spirits Challenge in London, in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Yamazaki itself took the top honour at the same competition in 2024, when the 12-year-old was named Supreme Champion Spirit over every other entry.
