Yamazaki 18 Year Old in a specially designed limited-edition presentation, 700mL at 43%. The whisky is the standard 18-year-old, which draws mainly on sherry casks.
About This Whisky
Suntory has released the 18-year-old in special designs from time to time, and merchants note that the liquid matches the regular bottling. That whisky is aged for at least 18 years, mostly in Spanish oak sherry casks, with American white oak and Japanese mizunara in the vatting. Suntory's note gives raisin, apricot and café au lait on the nose, blackberry, strawberry jam and dark chocolate on the palate, and a long, spicy finish.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Raisin, apricot and café au lait, with a touch of mizunara.
- Palate: Blackberry, strawberry jam and dark chocolate.
- Finish: Long, spicy and smooth.
Serving & Food
Let the glass warm in your hand for a moment before drinking. A copita or tulip keeps the dried fruit in focus. Try it with wagyu, teppanyaki beef or a square of 70% chocolate.

About the Distillery
Yamazaki began using mizunara, Japanese oak, during the Second World War, when imported barrels were hard to get. The wood proved difficult: it is porous, leaks easily and needs a long time to show its best.
Suntory's blenders kept faith with it. Given many years, mizunara gives aromas of sandalwood, coconut and incense, and it has become a signature of the Yamazaki house style.
