Chichibu Zero Malt Dream Cask 700mL is a scarce single-cask Chichibu release tied to the early Malt Dream Cask programme, bottled at 63.1% ABV with an outturn cited by Sotheby's lot records of 160 bottles.
From the Producer
The Malt Dream Cask programme is an early Ichiro's Malt / Venture Whisky initiative that bottled young single-cask Chichibu spirit to give collectors access to the distillery's formative production, before the larger Chichibu single malt library had matured. Chichibu Distillery itself began production in 2008 in Saitama Prefecture, founded by Ichiro Akuto as the first new Japanese whisky distillery to receive a production licence in 35 years. Zero Malt Dream Cask sits within that collector-oriented single-cask arc, with specialist auction records citing its 160-bottle outturn and cask-strength bottling.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Concentrated malt, vanilla, oak spice and cask-strength intensity, with specialist sources emphasising scarcity more than polished producer-style notes.
- Palate: Powerful and cask-led, combining Chichibu fruit-and-malt character with a firm bourbon-cask frame and the concentration expected at high strength.
- Finish: Long and warming, with oak spice and persistent sweet-malt depth.
Best For
Chichibu collectors, early-distillery bottling followers and Japanese whisky buyers who prioritise rarity over broad-market name recognition.
