Gentleman's Cut is Stephen Curry's bourbon brand; the Player Exclusive series marks specific milestones in his career at cask-strength-style proofs in runs of a few hundred to a thousand bottles. The IV Edition Straight Rye marks his four-thousandth career three-pointer and was aged four thousand days — roughly eleven years — to match the milestone, using a rye mash bill rather than the flagship's bourbon recipe.
Four thousand threes, four thousand days in barrel
The IV Edition marks Stephen Curry's four-thousandth three-pointer, and the whiskey inside was aged four thousand days to match. That is a little under eleven years, and it is the kind of detail that only works because somebody laid the barrels down long before the record was in sight.
It is also the one bottle in the range that is not a bourbon. This is a straight rye, so the grain that plays a supporting role in the flagship takes the lead here: drier, peppery, more savoury, with the spice running the length of the palate instead of arriving late.
