Master's Keep Revival is a Wild Turkey bourbon aged 12 to 15 years and then finished in old oloroso sherry casks. It came out in 2018 as the third Master's Keep release and was Eddie Russell's nod to a sherry-finished bourbon his father made in the early 2000s.
About This Bourbon
Jimmy Russell's Wild Turkey Sherry Signature was a limited 10-year-old released early in the 2000s and long gone by the time Eddie revisited the idea. For Revival, Eddie went to Jerez to find oloroso casks that had held sherry for at least 20 years, rather than the three or four years common in seasoning casks, and secured a few hundred. Bourbon aged 12 to 15 years went into those casks for its finish and was bottled at 101 proof. About 1,600 cases were made.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Cherry pie, raisins, citrus peel and nuts, with a touch of oak.
- Palate: Soft and creamy, with gentle spice and sweet tropical fruit over toffee.
- Finish: Lingering, with dried apricot, honey and a light spice.
Serving & Food
Serve neat at about 18 to 20°C in a copita or small wine glass, which suits the sherry side. One ice cube is fine on a warm night. It sits well beside dark chocolate with almonds, Manchego or a Christmas pudding.

About the Distillery
The distillery site at Lawrenceburg goes back to the Ripy brothers' operation of the late 1800s. Wild Turkey itself began as a label: the wholesaler Austin, Nichols bottled bourbon under the name before it owned any stills, and only bought the Lawrenceburg plant in 1971.
Today the distillery belongs to Campari Group, which bought it from Pernod Ricard in 2009 and has since expanded capacity. The Master's Keep series is where Eddie Russell releases small lots of older or finished whiskey that don't fit the core range, from 17-year-old bourbon to rum-cask and sherry-cask experiments.
