Master's Keep Bottled in Bond is a 17-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey, released in 2020 as the fifth bottling in the Master's Keep series. It pairs a long age statement with the strict rules of the bonded label, a combination you rarely see at this age.
About This Bourbon
Eddie Russell chose the barrels from Wild Turkey's Camp Nelson rickhouses, where they had rested for 17 years. To carry the bonded label, the whiskey had to come from one distilling season at one distillery, age in a federally bonded warehouse and go into bottle at exactly 100 proof. Only one Wild Turkey bourbon had carried that label before: American Spirit, a 15-year-old bonded release from 2007. The mash bill is the house recipe of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. Around 14,400 bottles were made.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Toasted oak, baked apple and dark cherry, with vanilla, brown sugar and toffee.
- Palate: Full and firm at 50% ABV. Caramel and cherry lead, then old oak and a line of rye spice.
- Finish: Long and drying, with mocha, a wisp of smoke and warm spice.
Serving & Food
Pour it at room temperature into a tulip or Glencairn and let it sit a little before the first sip; the oak softens with air. A splash of water brings the fruit forward. Try it with pecan pie, aged Gouda or a plate of char siu.

About the Distillery
Wild Turkey sits on a limestone bluff above the Kentucky River at Lawrenceburg. The name came from the New York wholesaler Austin, Nichols, which bought the distillery outright in 1971. Pernod Ricard took over in 1980, and Campari Group has owned the brand and distillery since 2009, adding a new distillery building in 2011 and a bottling hall in 2013.
The whiskey is shaped by the Russell family. Jimmy Russell began work at the distillery in 1954, and his son Eddie, who selected this bottling, joined in 1981 and became master distiller in his own right.
