Ancient Cask Bourbon Lot 12 came out in 2016 at 90 proof (45% ABV) under gold wax, and there was also a small-label "Cask 12" at 90 proof from the earlier export years. There is no age statement. The label calls it bourbon, so it was aged in new charred oak, and bottling at 90 proof gives a soft, easy-drinking style.

About the Distillery
Very Olde St. Nick makes each release from one to three barrels. That is a very small batch by Kentucky standards, and it means no two lots taste quite the same. The producer calls the brand "peculiar" and points to its mix of hand-designed labels and odd lot sizes as part of its character.
The approach goes back to the brand's start in the 1980s, when it bottled odd barrels of good whiskey wherever they could be found. Today the lots come out of Preservation Distillery in Bardstown. Each carries its lot number by hand or in print, so the number on the bottle matters as much as the name.
