Chichibu distillery sits in the mountain town of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, and was founded by Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the master distiller of the now-closed Hanyu distillery. Distilling began in 2008. The Malt Dream Cask series pairs Chichibu single-cask whisky with partner bars around the world; Bar Ikkei is one of those partner venues and the #544 cask is its allocation from a 2009 distillation.
