Hennessy X.O was created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy and remains the house's original and emblematic Extra Old blend. For Lunar New Year, Hennessy commissions a limited-edition decanter from a contemporary artist each year; the Year of the Horse edition is designed by Chinese artist Xu Zhen, whose equine motifs and dark red neck capsule mark the release as a collectible tied to the zodiac year rather than a change to the X.O blend itself.
