Krug 2013 is the house's single-year expression, built from that harvest alone rather than blended across vintages like Grande Cuvée, and held in the cellars for around ten years before release. 2013 was a late, slow season in Champagne that produced taut, high-acid wines with the structure to take that long ageing.
From the Producer
Krug Vintage is the house's argument that a single year is worth hearing on its own. Where Grande Cuvee blends more than a hundred wines across many harvests, the Vintage is drawn from 2013 alone and then left in the cellars for around a decade before it is allowed out — a late, slow-ripening year that gave taut, high-acid wines built for exactly that kind of waiting.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Citrus zest, white flowers, brioche and toasted almond.
- Palate: Precise and tightly wound, with orchard fruit, a creamy lees texture and bright acidity running the length of it.
- Finish: Long and mineral, finishing dry with a faint saline edge.
