Chichibu Single Port Cask #1921 The Whiskey House is a scarce Japanese single malt from Ichiro Akuto's Chichibu Distillery, distilled in 2009 and bottled as a single-cask release for The Whiskey House. Port-pipe maturation sits alongside the distillery's established sherry, bourbon and French wine cask programme, giving this expression a richer dried-fruit character than fresher bourbon-cask Chichibu releases.

Chichibu distillery sits in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, and is run by Venture Whisky, founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto. The Akuto family had made sake at Chichibu since 1625 and later ran the Hanyu distillery; when the family firm was sold in 2004, Akuto bought back the remaining Hanyu casks and built his own distillery, which was completed in 2007 and received the first new Japanese whisky production licence in 35 years when it started distilling in February 2008. The original Chichibu site remains Japan's smallest whisky distillery, working with two small pot stills imported from Scotland and mizunara (Japanese oak) washbacks.
