Springbank 15 Year Old Rum Wood, a limited release distilled in December 2003 and bottled on 27 August 2019. Unusually, it spent its full 15 years in rum barrels rather than a short finish, and it was bottled at 51% ABV in a run of 9,000 bottles.
About This Whisky
Spirit distilled in December 2003 went into ex-rum barrels and stayed there for the whole of its maturation, rather than being moved across for a finish. It was bottled on 27 August 2019 at 51%, uncoloured and without chill filtration, with 9,000 bottles released. The rum wood brightens the house style, adding tropical fruit and brown-sugar sweetness to Springbank's oil, salt and light smoke.

About the Distillery
Rum Wood belongs to a long line of Springbank wood releases. Since the early 2000s the distillery has put out limited editions that name the cask on the label: Madeira, claret, Marsala, Calvados, port, sherry and rum among them. Some were full maturations and others spent years in bourbon before moving to the second cask. Each one is bottled once, at natural strength, and then replaced by something else, which gives Springbank drinkers a way to taste the same spirit through very different wood.
